Instructor

Julie Essley has over 30 years of experience in music education. She has a Bachelor’s of Music Education from Oral Roberts University and a Master’s of Music Education from Tulsa University.

Miss Julie spent 10 years teaching music in the public schools and many more years maintaining a private music studio while homeschooling her children.

In addition to her education experience, she served her local church in Ohio for nearly 15 years as the Music Director and Children’s Ministry Director.

In 2017 Miss Julie joined Capitol Hill Baptist Church and in 2018 she and the Reedys formed the Capitol Hill Singing School. Miss Julie also teaches music and other subjects for the Classical Christian Conservatory of Alexandria.

Miss Julie is excited to bring harmony to the Hill and looks forward to interacting with children to bring glory to God.

Accompanist

Cecilia DeMaria maintains an active career as a collaborative pianist and teacher in the DC, Virginia, and Maryland area. She holds a Bachelors degree in Piano Pedagogy from The Catholic University of America where she studied under Jose Ramos Santana.

Cecilia began teaching 5 years ago and currently offers private lessons on Capitol Hill using pedagogue skills and techniques to help further their playing while maintaining a creative, enjoyable atmosphere of learning.

She currently is a church accompanist for Capitol Hill Baptist and was the choral accompanist for the CUA Chamber Choir from 2017-2018. She has had the opportunity to participate and perform at the Puerto Rico International Piano Festival in 2016 and 2017. Back in 2014 she was chosen as a prix winner to perform at Carnegie Weill Recital Hall.
